GREETINGS FROM WALES!!!!!! Hope everyone is ok, its absolutely manic here!!! Right news...what do we have?!! Well, after a busy weekend, the tree was thrown up last Sunday! Still looks nice though I think.
Jon spoke to Nigel the other night and updated him about Cerys, but the Gist of it, after much hassle at our local hospital, she had two units of blood on Tuesday.....
and as you cn see she is a normal shade of pink for the timebeing!!! We had two really long days, but I suppose the main thing is that she is feeling better, and will hopefully be bouncing around full of beans over the Christmas holidays. She's complaining about missing pieces to the Jigsaw here.
Iwan is growing every day, becoming such a little chatterbox, and keeping us all busy. I love this next photo, he actually let me comb his hair!!! He has the Clapham hair for sure...
And finally, another proud moment for us last night, Cerys was Mary for the infants nativity. Tears were shed, videos were taken and plenty of songs were sung, but she looked lovely. She was made up when her "boyfriend" was Joseph, but got bored of sitting through the olders kids play, and complained to the Teacher they were keeping her awake!!
Carolyn is also now in Wales!! She moved yesterday, so the house is still full of boxes, but I'll try and take some pictures over the weekend for you. Its going to be another busy one here, we've promised to take Cerys to the cinema to see Madagascar, I have a night out tomorrow night, Childrens Ward christmas party on Sunday, and we really need to finish the Christmas shopping too. Oh well, better to be busy than bored I suppose!!
Take care everyone, speak soon

Grabbing a minute at lunchtime!
Just to keep you up to date!!
Yesterday we had some great news that Cerys's blood level had actually risen, alone, for the first time since June!! We're not sure what this means at the moment, we see our consultant at the transplant clinic on the 8th December, but I'm sure it can only be good. She has also had a cold, so we were expecting it to have dropped quite a bit, and re even prepared that she'd need to be transfused sooner this time. So we're happy bunnies at the moment!!
Hope you are all well, how's the dishwasher situation??

Greetings from Wales!! Hope you are all keeping well in this cold weather? We are holed up indoors today, the kids haev got a terrible cold, do we've decided to havea lazy day all round, well, the kids did, and I decided to try and catch up with the housework!!!!
Its been a funny couple of weeks, We've all done nothing special really, just relaxed, and it's been lovely. Cerys is keeping well, so far. She has had another unit of blood though, but this time we went home inbetween the cross match test and the transfusion itself, which brOke the day up slightly, and meant that Cerys wasn't as bored. As always she was a trooper, dispite the fact the registrar had such a horrendous time getting a canula in this time, something we need to talk to Alder Hey about I think. So anyways, that was over a week ago, and she's been fine until this cold, and still is running around today!! So she'll have a small blood test next week, just to check, and we may well leave her then until transplant clinic on the 8th. Keep everythign crossed.
We did however learn that Iwan isn't a full match for her, so he won't be able to donate the stem cells. However, because he is a partial match, there's a better chance than normal that either Jon or I could be a match, so we will be tested next time as well. She is also apparently a "very common" tissue type!!! So we should be able to find plenty of matches for her, which is the biggest relief!!
And like i say, we've basically just been chilling, and enjoying normal life!! here's some pics, First a good one of Iwan helping Taid cut the wood up with a hammer!
This is Cerys, showing how best to chill on a Sunday morning, colouring and listening to her MP3 player!!
We have been to see the Christmas decorations at the local garden centre though, and Iwan (much to our shame) got stuck straight in!!!!
Now here's some pictures than Nigel will identify with! Cerys opened up a beauty salon at Nain's house last weekend, and Dad had a manicure and polish......do you think he's impressed?!!!
He does look pleased wit the end result!!
So there we have it, a fairly normal entry from us lot. I enjoyed it :o)

Another trip to the hospital
Hello again! Nice to hear from you, glad you're all well.
We've been to visit the clinic again today, and the consultant was willing for Cerys to continue to be supported using transfusions, as it's only her red blood cells that keep dropping for some strange reason. As the Transplant is such a major step, and will make her quite poorly, they want to keep it as a last resort really, so we are to keep a close eye on her, and go back in six weeks to review. In the meantime, I think she will need another transfusion in a couple of weeks or so, but we can arrange that at the local hospital here. Iwan was tested as a match today too, and both kids were so brave and have now forgotten all about it!!
We had a fairly quiet weekend, we visited Llangollen on Saturday, where Thomas the Tank was visiting!!!!! The rain was torrential on the way there, but was dry but cold when we got there. Cerys was in awe, but Iwan was less than impressed, saying he was too noisy!! Here are some pics.....

He was more impressed hen we got the lunchboxes out when we were allowed on the train!

They were both trying to spot everything out the window..Iwan claims to have spotted a Hippo, but I'm not sure I believe him to be honest!!

And here's proof it was actually pulled along by Thomas!

So it was a really good day out, but it was slightly dampened when we got a parking ticket, oops! But never mind!! So that's it for now, we can actually try and live normally for a while, just keeping a very close eye on the kids.
Take care, speak soon

Happy Thanksgiving.
Hello, from a very, very wet, and very, very, VERY windy Wales!! Hope all is well with you.
Not too much to report, kids are doing ok, both have a cold, but it's not bothered them massively thankfully. However, Cerys did take part in her first school "concert" today, making Jon and I very proud indeed,in fact I could have happily cried through the lot! But I am a soppy so and so anyway. Unfortunately, pictures weren't allowed, hopefully we'll get a dvd of the performance, but belive me, there were quite a few stars in the making!
Nothing much else happening at the moment, we have Graham and Emma down to stay over the weekend hopefully, so may get some new pics then. We are also back at Alder Hey on Monday, where they will test Iwan for a match. Now THAT will be fun, NOT!!!! But never mind, needs doing.
Hope everyone's ok, speak soon

WHERE IS EVERYONE!!!!!
Cerys and Iwan are looking for you everywhere, including up the chimney!! Only joking, they were actually looking for Santa in this picture. Don't ask me why, I'm aware its only October, but still, it was allegeedly a good idea to search for the Big fella, although the colour on th pair of them wasn't so great!!
This next pic is ace I think. Its Cerys after her latest blood test at Bangor. She's not too happy at having it done there, as they don't do the prick test like they do at Alder Hey, so it's a bit more painful and she does get upset, but the absolute STAR she is, this is how she deals with it. This picture makes me feel so proud!!
Anyway, the results last Friday were god, her HG level came back at 9.6, which is the highest it's been since she was initally tested. Obviously we're not assuming she's been cured or anything like that, but we're taking it as a sign that she's not deteriorating quickly, as some of the people I've spoken with have been far, far poorlier than Cerys. This is good, becasue they prefer you to be as healthy as possible when transplanting (healthy may not be the right word, but you know what I mean) so we're trying to focus on every little positive.
So, w had a good weekend :D Cerys got a new teddy.....
and Taid bought them a copy of the Jungle Book, and as you can see, the pair of them never moved
We fed the ducks...say hello to Chris!
and as it was such a nice Sunday over here, we spent the afternoon in the garden.
Hop you are all ok, speak soon.

Evenin all!
Hello again! Another quickie off me becasue its late(ish) for me and I need a Panad and a shower before bed! Yesterday wet ok, her blood had diped to 4.9, not too bad considering she'd had a stomach bug, but they decided to transfuse to keep her well. So it was another really long day for the pair of us, not geting back til gone nine at night. Again, she was such a star, really good. We had a good chat with "our" nurse, and a few things are clearer regarding the treatment she will receive. Fore warned is fore armed and all that!
Here she is, waiting for the blood to arrive, watching Dumbo in her room. She does have a very Mel-ish trait though, and we have to fast forward through the bad bits of the film :-D

And who was waiting for us when we got back? Welcome the newest member of the family.......this is Amy!! (Cerys named her, and she took the picture too)

So there we go, I am for my drink and dunk now. Back to school for Cerys tomorrow and lazy day for Iwan. Hope all is well, speak soon

Short and sweet(ish!)
Hello, Hope you're having a good week, this is a long term isn't it? Already we're on week five here, and still three weeks to go :/
Anyways, I thought I'd let you know that Cerys is off for a blood test tomorrow, and we are hoping she gets a transfusion too. I hope we can have a word with one of the nurses there, and pick her brain about a few things, so if they do transfuse, it may well be a long day (judging by the last one she had done at Bangor).
We've also had the appointment throught for the transplant clinic, and we are to go there on the 27th at 10.30 (what a start to half term!)
That's all for now, just trying to keep you posted as it filters in here....I'll let you know what happens tomorrow, would love to hear from you, speak soon.

Mixed bag!!!
Well, about time I filled you all in really! I know some other people have started reading too, so hello to everybody, hope everyone is good and well.
We've been steadily busy here all Month, and our big news comes from the latest trip to the hospital. Cerys's blood is steadily drifting down again, and although the latest bone marrow biopsy showed no major nasties, it didn't look as healthy as the one before. So they have more or less decided they would like to do a bone marrow transplant. Feels so surreal typing that!!!!!!!!!!! She is going to be monitored here at Bangor, on a weekly basis for the next month, and then we are to attend the transplant clinic on a Monday morning in around a months time, when we will discuss the next steps. They also asked us to bring Iwan with us that day, so he can start to familiarise himself with the place and the people, because he is going to be tested to see if he is a match as apparently, he is our best chance. Despite that, he still only has a one in four chance of being a suitable donor, so we will have to check the national database too, and I'm not sure if they're willing to test random strangers we pick up off the street!!! A transplant (they call it a graft for some reason) is a fairly big deal for the person receiving apparently. She will most probably need a dose of chemotherapy first, and the effects of that should last around a month, then they need to supress her existing immune system, so she'll have to be put in isolation for a while beforehand. Then they'll transfer the marrow, and that'll be followed by another period of isolation. So really really tough times ahead, but as long as we get to bring a healthy and normal Cerys home, we can do it. No idea how, but we will!!! Cerys is quite happy at the hospital though, she's getting to know everyone, and the facilities are excellent at Alder hey. Here's a pic of Jon, quite put out by Cerys wanting a go on the games console on Thursday!!

So, in the meantime, we have been trying to make the most of days when we're all at home together, and trying to keep things as normal as possible.
I'd better not forget to tell you about Iwan's starting at Nursery school! He is quite happy there, but he does have one advantage over the other kids as his Mam gets to stay!! He's not too sure he likes all the sitting down yet, but so far so good. He even got a good behaviour star last week too, but decided he didn't want to wear it! Here he is, a rare moment where he is sat still there! As you can see, his hair is taking on the Clapham turn....

We went visiting family yesterday, and the kids decided to pick the apples off the tree that Barney has in his garden. The Pictures didn't come out too good, but there were hundreds of apples on this tree, and every shake produced dozens at a time! The kids loved it!!

So there we have it! Lots to tell you but nothing much has happened really! I shall leave you with a pic of them both smiling and sat still.

I shall keep you all informed of any more news, keep fingers crossed for us.

Another first for us
Hello there, hope you are all good. We're fine here, we've had a busy weekend. A birthday party yesterday, and we've said bon voyage to Nain and Taid today (they have gone on holiday for 10 days) and hello to Grandma! Just wanted to upload some pics really. Here goes! Here's Cerys doing her best twirl...that girl does like a frock!
Iwan (almost) smart in his waistcoat! Its accessorised with a chocolate roll by the way.
And here he is in the ball pool, amongst the girls (again!)
Now here is what Cerys has been up to for hours this afternoon.....
and as reward, Jon said she was allowed her very first ride on the Harley. Check out her reaction!!
Hope you're all well, we've a fairly busy week ahead, but nothing exciting, although after all our recent excitement, boring and normal will do me fine! take care, kisses to all XxX

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!
Hello English side of the family! Hope you are all ok, how's term going?
We have had another long day at the hospital, Cerys had her bone marrow messed with this morning, and late this afternoon, the consultant told us it didn't look like there was any Leukemia present. We have been flying high ever since!!!! SO bottom line, they still don't know why's not poory, but at the moment, I'm quite happy to settle for the fact it isn't Leukemia. Once again, she has been a star, waking up from the anasthetic bright as a daisy! She got abit bored even of all the waiting around, and even wih a poorly hand (where they had inserted a canulla in case she needed a transfusion) she managed to cover us all with gold glitter, kindly supplied by the recovery ward play therapist!

When we'd finished the glue, she decided Ted was hungry, Poor Ted has been through a lot recently!

Iwan is fine, he has been good as gold today for Nain and Auntie Beryl today, although he has been scrapping with Mam's dog (not happy about it!)

He is allowed the run of the house, but he chooses to read his books in the porch! This is Auntie Beryl's house

But he has been keeping everone's spirits up, and the next thing for him is starting Nursery wih me next week. They won't know what's hit them!!!!
And there we have it, another short post, but I will ramble more next time I promise!!! Hope you are all alright, and we will have to arrange to get together soon, or it'll be Christmas before we know it (frightening!!) Kisses to all,
One very relieved Mel

Who wants some sniffles then?
Good morning! Short and sweet update from us. Cerys loved school, and even came round to the idea of the dinners having had a bellyful of roast pork on Wednesday. Unfortunately, she has caught Iwan's cold, which turned into tonsilitis, so missed Thursday and Friday. She's on some strong anti-biotics though, so will be fighting fit by Monday morning I'm sure. My turn for the sniffles now though, but hey ho!!
Carolyn has sold the house, so that's a waiting game now, and she's off on her Hols tomorrow too. Then as soon as she gets back, Mam and Dad are off, so everyones jetting off :( Jealous me? Never!!!
We will hopefully be up at Alder Hey on Wednesday, to see if we get a better idea of what's going on, so will update when we know anything new. Hope you all ok, kisses to all.

FIRST DAY!!!!
Well, here is my baby, how the heck has she grown up so much!!!

She enjoyed her first day really, but said she didn't really enjoy the dinner! It was made up for by the chocolate cake pudding, but apparently it wasn't the same as Mams!! That's my girl!!
So first day and she didn't look back, wonder how the second one will go!
Hope your first day back was ok. Cerys has just asked when she'll get to play with Dan again, so must sort something out soon.
Kisses to all, with a side serving of cuddles on the side!

Evening All!
Good evening! Nice to see others having a go! Bring it on!!
Hope you are all ok, and are having a good weekend. Hope Melissa had a good birthday, so so so sorry we forgot, we shall find an extra special Christmas one instead. Sorry Melissa :(
Just a quick blog this time, to let you know that Cerys had a transfusion yesterday, as her blood count had gone down again when it was checked on Thursday. She was a little star throughout, and dealt with it all much better than I would have, and I am so so so proud of her. She's also booked in for another bone marrow extraction on the 10th of September, which will look for any changes since the last one. She will only have to be in for the day, so we shall be home in the evening all being well.
SO at the moment we are ok! Iwan was a bit clingy having spent a couple of days without us, but they have both had a lovely play today. We did go looking for jigsaws (dont ask!!!) but couldn't find any in Bangor....kids still play with jigsaws dont they???? WIll have to think further afield I think, and there may well be a trip to Toys R Us coming up!!!
We are being visited by Graham and Emma and the kids tomorrow, so I'm sure there'll be some pics (couldn't bring myself to take any pics yesterday, although I must take one of a drawing she did with her left hand, becasue her right one was bandaged up........remind me!!!) Now not ony does she have a new uniform and bag to start school with on Tuesday, but she has a new set of red blood cells!! Not many kids can say that can they?!!
So really is a quick off me now, still shattered after a long long day at the hospital yesterday. Will post some pics soon, cuddles to all.

Long time no speak!!
Well things have been fairly quiet and low key here, but it's about time I updated! We are all ok, Cerys was back at the hospital last week, and unfortunately her blood count had dropped again, so we have to go back on Thursday to have another blood test, and if it's not improved, then she will have another transfusion, and we will look at doing another analysis of the bone marrow. They are still clueless as to what's wrong, but at least they're keeping an eye on her. It's a difficult time, but Cerys is being the star at the moment, taking it all in her stride, and keeping the rest of us going! Iwan is being good too, and looking out for his big sister. Here's the latest picture from Alder Hey.
We've just had Grandma down for another weekend, she wanted to have another look at the Bungalow she's spotted, and she took Dafydd with her to see what he thougt, and she is quite keen. It all hangs now on selling Oxford Drive though, so watch this space!!! Christine and Alan came with her, but we put them all to good use and the kids had a whale of a time with them......
And finally we had a day out at a fun day organised in aid of the Lifeboat in Beaumaris, which the kids enjoyed. Fish and chips, folloed by ice cream, and Cerys and Jon took a boat ride round to see the seals and puffins on Puffin Island.
Lastly, here's a bedtime story for you....Cerys Style!!!
So that's all from quiet Brynsiencyn at the moment. We are hopeing all is well on Thursday, and Cerys should be starting BIG school on Tuesday, OH MY GOD!!!! She is as excited as anything, but it may be the last straw for my nerves!!!! We will be sure to post a pic of her in her new uniform, and she can tell you all about it. Kisses to all, big hugs, hopefully in person really soon. Melanie xxx

Lazy Sunday....
Good Afternoon, Hope we find you all well. It is Sunday afternoon, and Jon has taken the kids to the park, so I have two minutes to update a few things!
Grandma arrived safely on Friday, and I think she bought a bit of sun with her. She also told us you had had some bad news, and Dan must have had quite a fright, so we were all thinking of you, and sending our sympathies. Hope Dan will feel better soon, big cuddles from Anglesey.
We spent part of Friday afternoon decorating Ginerbread people, and Cerys really took to it........

I've put this pic in of Cerys's Ginerbread Lady, because I was tickled by the eyelashes she has put!

Yesterday we went to a Viking Fstival, that runs annually in a town on the south of the Island, Amlwch. We had Sally's daughter with us too, and we had such a fab time. It was so good, I would recommend it to anyone! It was very cleverly thought out, they had set up a small village, and we got to see a re-enactment of a battle and everything. I thought the girls may be slightly frightened with the shouting and scrapping, but turns out they absolutely loved it!!! They screamed all sorts at them, and cheered when they "died" and everything, worrying, but they enjoyed it! It went on all day, and late itno the evening, but Cerys was shattered and starting to look slightly pale, so we went for a fish and chip supper, then had a good rest! It's a shame we missed the evening, they were burning a boat and had some firworks, but there's our excuse for going back next year!! Here are some pics.....
Some scarey Vikings...(the girls were too cautious to have their pics taken alongside them at this point!)

An even scarier looking bunch..

Here's the battle....They narrated it all bilingually, so everyone could follow the story.

So that's it for us for this week. We are hoping to have a quieter week this week because last week was very busy!! Really hope you are ok, and we'll see you soon.
